Are you searching for healing, understanding, and personal growth?
My name is Matthew, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (#18638). I hold a BA in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, along with additional training in mental health and social work. I work with adults and adolescents navigating emotional distress, relationship and communication difficulties, addictions and habit change, life transitions, and matters of faith and spirituality. I also support individuals seeking practical guidance around sleep, circadian rhythm, motivation, and other foundational health behaviours that shape psychological well-being.
My approach to counselling is eclectic and integrative. I draw from contemporary therapeutic models such as cognitive-behavioural therapy and EMDR, alongside mind–body practices including meditation, contemplation, and breathwork. This work tends to resonate with people who are reflective, curious, and willing to engage both practically and meaningfully with their inner life, whether their concerns are primarily emotional, behavioural, or existential.
While recovery, healing, and wholeness are the primary concerns of psychotherapy, counsellors must also attend to the possibilities of growth, flourishing, and wisdom. As a therapist informed by various philosophical and religious traditions, I am interested in learning your unique story and discovering the universal, symbolic patterns expressed within it. This process connects us to both our innate resources as well as the invaluable inheritance of our ancestors and culture.
I believe this convergence of modern and traditional perspectives is particularly suited to our moment. Despite unprecedented access to comfort, amusement, information, and material abundance, many people experience a pervasive sense of alienation and loss of meaning. As a result, there is a growing search for what is meaningful, transcendent, noble, and beautiful. Each person must discern their own north star—but this need not be done alone. I would be honoured to support that process.
